THE GOOD TROUBLEMAKER SCHOLARSHIPS

2025-2026 JLMLF Good Troublemaker Scholars are attending Alabama State University; American University; Clark Atlanta University; Georgia Institute of Technology; Howard University; Kennesaw State University; Morehouse College; and New York University.

BACKGROUND

The John and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation was established to carry on the Lewises’ passion for purposeful living, civic engagement and building the “beloved community,” and to inspire and support Good Troublemakers everywhere. We are focused on supporting democracy and voting, youth civic engagement and building bridges.

The Foundation is dedicated to empowering and uplifting students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to social justice.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Good Troublemaker Scholarships will honor Lillian Miles Lewis’ lifetime commitment to education and literacy (a commitment shared by Congressman Lewis). We will make it a point to support students working in the fields of education, literacy or library science, with a preference given to students who have heeded the call to get into “good trouble, necessary trouble.”

Our scholarships will provide financial support to deserving graduating seniors from Congressman Lewis’ district.  This scholarship aims to support students as they continue their educational journeys and make a lasting impact in their communities.

If you are a passionate student leader committed to academic success and civic engagement, with an interest in education, literacy or library science, we encourage you to apply for this prestigious scholarship opportunity.

Application Deadline: April 1, 2026 (11:59pm ET)

Winners will be notified by May 1, 2026
