National Voter Registration Day: Your Vote Is Precious
Today, the John and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation proudly recognizes National Voter Registration Day and honors the generations of Americans who sacrificed, marched, organized, and risked their lives to secure and protect the right to vote.
Congressman John Lewis devoted his life to ensuring that every person could participate fully in our democracy. From Mississippi Freedom Summer and the Voter Education Project to Selma and Bloody Sunday, he never gave up and never gave in. He kept his eyes on the prize and reminded us that democracy requires each of us to take action.
National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic observance dedicated to helping eligible Americans:

Established in 2012, National Voter Registration Day brings together election officials, nonprofit organizations, libraries, colleges, businesses, and community groups across the country to help every eligible voter become #VoteReady.
As Congressman Lewis reminded us, “Democracy is not a state. It is an act.”
