The John and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation’s LAUNCH18 program has officially expanded to Springfield, Virginia with a voter registration rally at the only high school named after Congressman John Lewis.

Voter Registration Rallies were held at Druid Hills, Cedar Grove, McNair and Columbia, bringing students together for voter registration, civic education and hands-on preparation for becoming first-time voters.

63 years ago today, Congressman John Lewis was working on his speech for the March for Jobs and Freedom. At only 23 years old, John Lewis was more than a little nervous preparing to address a crowd of more than 200,000 demonstrators and advocates, to speak out for justice, for jobs, and for economic opportunity.
